Katia aspires to learn and paint following the Indian tradition of folk and wants to draw her attention to the simple, beautiful and yet profound ways of the Indian women. She has been a journalist before being a full time painter and her inspiration in art came from Dutch painter Vincent Van Gogh and from his fellow friend Paul Gauguin. One can really find in her art a close resemblance of Gauguin’s new artistic evocation where he found among the Tahitian islanders the real mirror of the life’s beauty and simplicity. Far away from the artificiality and the conventionality of modern India, in the peasant villages and the backwaters, probably, Katia too will find her art reflecting back and answering the questions once asked by Gauguin in his painting Where Do We Come From? What Are We? Where Are We Going? (1897-98).
